DPCNews 031 - Ketos Ring: Discrepancies
Ketos Ring: Discrepancies between auditors and users. Why?
December 2010
1 - Introduction
Some papers already published on our Website deal with the Ketos Ring. This one comes as a follow-up of the paper referenced in Note 1.
Ketos Ring has been described for dozens of years.
In 2008, SREM TECHNOLOGIES, a manufacturer of MT equipment, carried out comparative tests on the Ketos Ring.
DPCNews 030 - Using the Ketos Ring in Europe
Ambiguities due to using the Ketos Ring in Europe
November 2010
Dear Readers,
We have the pleasure to publish on our Website a contribution by a French MT expert, Stéphane GRAVELEAU, from the R and D department of SREM TECHNOLOGIES (FRANCE).
The Editors:
Patrick DUBOSC and Pierre CHEMIN
Many are the standards, codes, dealing with Magnetic Testing (MT) further to many manufacturers’ specifications in aerospace, railways, etc industries. In these documents magnetization conditions are checked by measuring the applied electric current and the magnetic field. They should state the minimum and maximum figures to use, be they either RMS, mean or peak.
Unfortunately, some of these documents display quite difficult-to-understand explanations, leading to misunderstanding by users and auditors.
DPCNews 029 - Quality of some calibration services
October 2010
1- Introduction
The quality of some calibration services brings us to draw the attention of the calibrating service companies and their customers on some questionable practices from the Quality Assurance point of view.
In many cases, these practices are only the consequence of a lack of requirements in the standards. It would be high time when these specify the minimum figures/data of needed requirements, while knowing that the customers may always ask their calibrating service companies for more if these companies can technically do it, if it is justified by the customer’s specific application, and if ... the customer agrees to pay the price for that!
DPCNews 028 - Use-by dates of PT/MT materials
September 2010
1- Introduction
In the June 21-25, 2010 PRI-NADCAP meeting, held in Singapore, the topic of the use-by dates of non-aqueous wet developer (NAWD) spray cans used in PT was raised.
Some in the attendance said that the used-by dates mentioned on these spray cans are for commercial purpose only. In other words, these spray cans could be used beyond their used-by date; should the spraying fulfil the requirement of an even coating, the developer is considered as right.
We think it very useful to give you some points to think about.
DPCNews 027 - Definitions for ISO 12706:2009 Standard
Suggested definitions of some PT terms left out of ISO 12706:2009 Standard
August 2010
Document updated in July/August, 2011
In our paper titled ‘‘ISO 12706:2009 standard: Missed opportunities’’ published on our Website, we displayed some PT terms which we have not found in this standard.
As a 9-year time span was necessary since the ISO 12706:2000 standard revision, it is not yet too late to begin to think about the next ISO 12706:2009 standard revision which, let us hope, will be published before 2018!
