October 2010 - Calibration, verification, uncertainty, accredited laboratories
It seems that, quite often, we “feel” what the topics of papers published in technical journals will be.
For instance, we wrote a draft, titled “Quality of some calibration services” in May 2010, about … well … the quality of the calibration/verification of UV-A irradiance meters, luxmeters and magnetic field meters.
This paper went through our current “shuttle” between both of us for improvement during July and beginning of August 2010. And a French scientific and technical journal, Contrôles Essais Mesures, written with, among others, the COFREND’s (the French Association for Non-Destructive Testing) help, publishes a paper titled “Laboratories Accreditation” in its 2010 3rd trimester issue.
We came to the idea that it was the exact time to publish our own paper … which does not come against the views explained in Contrôles Essais Mesures.
This is why you may read, in our DPCNewsletter N°029, our opinion about some “habits” of service companies and their customers as well as about the failure of some standards/specifications for better requirements.
Once again, we share our long experience with you. Many of you will then think that what we write can be used outside of the PT/MT world, as meters are ubiquitous … and the problems which come with them, also!!
We hope you will enjoy your reading. And we will be happy to get returns, contradictory or not!
